  • Specialty in PCU/Cardiac
  • Job Summary: A newly added unit dedicated to high acuity PCU level patients with a focus on cardiac care
  • Nurse to Patient Ratios are 1:4 for days and nights
  • Charge Nurse oversees Neuro and PCU and will have a capped ratio if taking patient assignments
  • Unit/Department specific orientation includes 1 day with HR, 1 day with educator, & 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
  • Experience in PCU/Stepdown or Tele with cardiac gtt experience is required
  • Non-tritratable cardiac gtts involved with robust nursing protocols for handling
  • Set rate drips include Amio, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, and Heparin
  • Experience with post procedural care is preferred
  • Scrub Color/Dress code: Navy Blue
    • Job Requirements
    • Must have PCU/Stepdown experience OR Tele experience with cardiac gtt experience
    • Ability to work closely with other Tele units for support
    • Experience in managing common diagnoses/Types of patients, including Post Surgical with a Cardiac Focus
      • Schedule Information
      • Shifts are 7-7 with self-scheduling (though not finalized until balanced)
      • Block scheduling is considered
      • Weekend shifts requirement is 4-6 in a 6 week period
      • May include Holiday Rotation
      • Standby requirement may apply
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Nurse aids such as PCTs available with job duties including vitals, Accuchecks, ADLs, answering call lights, hourly rounding
        • RT equipment available such as vents, Cpap, BiPap, and readiness for high acuity situations
        • RNs must be able to read and interpret tele strips

          • Newly opening unit expected in 08/2024
          • Observation will be moving from this space to 3SE
